Sutura mask embodies the emergence of endemic cure by means of pain in a cathartic process triggered by tragedy. Time and mental spaces are not juxtaposed and the anachronism blurs the perception and consciousness of the healing occurrence that can only be achieved by trauma experience.
Sutura Mask is the interpretation of a progressive healing process as the artistic expression of a cathartic inflection moment shaped by the symbology of the suture. Sutures can be a seam formed by sewing two pieces of flesh together in order to heal an open wound, or natural fibrous joints that bridge the cranial skull’s bones.
Taking the symbology of healing by a painful process that bridges a path to cure and self-transformation, this project is designed as a mask with the intent to turn visible, in some kind of particular visual interpretation of feelings, such a hidden, and often mute, human experience. Masks hide our face, but can also reveal what we feel.
